K1: Retrofit Solar Kit using your existing tank
[CON-DIY-RETR]

£929.00

Keep your existing cylinder with our retrofit DIY Solar Kit

Our newest deal and probably the best value on the net. This price includes VAT and delivery to your door.

Install solar panels, but keep your existing tank. A simple but effective way to upgrade to solar power without the complications of changing your cylinder.

How does the retrofit coil work?
The coils are designed to fit into your existing 2.5" immersion heater plug, converting your cylinder into a twin coil tank without the costly expense of extra plumbing. You connect the solar panel flow and return to the copper connections, and the solar panels will start to heat your domestic hot water.

Are they as effective as a twin coil tank?
Not quite. To maximise the output from a solar panel we still recommend the traditional route of a twin coil cylinder, however, the coils do work well and represent one of the cheapest methods of installing solar hot water into an existing house. If you decide to change your cylinder in the future, the solar panels can be retained.

What about my immersion heater?
Unless you have two immersion sockets this will have to go.

Can I fit these to both vented and unvented cylinders?
Yes, the coils are suitable for both standard (vented) tanks, and the high pressure unvented variant.

The Rest of the Kit

Consol Solar Collectors are great value and are fully Low Carbon Grants accredited.

A complete house solar kit consisting of:

  • 12 Tube Consol Collector Suitable for a 80Ltr Tank (L:1600mm W:980mm)
  • High performance spiral retrofit 685mm (27") coil (36" or 14" on request)
  • Pump and isolation valves
  • Non-return valve.
  • Resol AX Solar Controller and temperature sensors kit
  • 2 x 2m lengths of corrugated s/steel pipes for connection through the roof.
  • EcoEnergy Header Tank System (no need for an expansion cylinder)
For installation into existing homes or new builds. Just supply the pipe work and off you go.

The system is suitable for installation into homes with a domestic hot water cylinder fitted with a 2.5" immersion heater unit. if you have a very large tank, then you may have to buy a larger 36" and larger panel. If you are unsure about your homes suitability then give us a call on 01244 630121 to discuss your project or send us an enquiry on enquires@ecoenergydepot.co.uk. Customised kits are available on request

Installation Service
The EcoEnergyDepot offer an installation service within 60 miles of our Chester office. Contact us to talk through your requirements or to request a site survey. For supply & install packages we charge 5% VAT further reducing the cost of the system.

More Energy Output than a Flat Panel Collector
Consol Solar Panels use high efficiency heat pipes. These use a vacuum tube to maximise the energy extracted during daylight hour. Solar Panels do not need direct sunlight to operate and will generate hot water even on cloudy days. Consol collectors have been tested by the SPF in Geneva and conform to EN12975.

The EcoEnergy Header Tank system
The EcoEnergy solar kits come with a unique header tank system. This is a small reservoir about the size of a large tin of peaches which is fed by the mains cold water supply and has an overflow to the outside. The header tank needs to be fitted above the height of the collector, but dispenses with the need for messy expansion cylinders and pressurised filling greatly simplifying installation. Air trapped in the system is also automatically vented through the tank. Pressurised kits are also available on request for a small additional charge.

Easy to Install and Maintain
Consol solar collectors have been designed so they are easy to fit and install and are suitable for most types of roof. The collectors come in an easy to assemble package and are normally fitted to the roof using stainless steel straps inserted under the roof tiles and attached to a roof truss.

Roof Orientation
Ideally you require a shade free South facing roof, but even East or West facing roofs with a 35 degree pitch can achieve efficiencies of 80%.

Household Water Consumption
This DIY kit has been design for moderate water consumption of 1 to 2 people at 40Litres a day per person. If you have a larger cylinder call us.
