Heating with wood pellets
Wood pellets are one of the few truly environmentally friendly ways to heat. Easier to handle than traditional stoves, wood pellet boilers can be retrofitted to most UK central heating systems without modification. Pellets are normally delivered in bulk on a pallet. A typical household will utilise between 1-3 tonnes of pellets a year with bagged pellets varying in cost from £170 - £230 a tonne delivered. With oil at 62p a litre and pellets at £230 a tonne pellet heating is 25% cheaper than oil. All wood pellet boilers are classed as solid fuel burners and as such will require a part J compliant Class 1 flue or liner. They will also require an electrical connection.

Cleaning
The stove has a simple manual cleaning mechanism to keep the heat exchanger clean of soot residue. The grate will need to be cleaned every couple of days. This is normally a 5 minute task. Soot automatically falls into a soot tray which will have to be cleaned once a week in normal use.
