Heating with wood pellets
Wood pellets are one of the few truly environmentally friendly ways to heat. Easier to handle than traditional stoves they require minimum cleaning with ash removal needed only once a fortnight for most uses. Pellets are normally delivered in bulk on a pallet. A typical household will utilise between 1-3 tonnes of pellets a year with bagged pellets varying in cost from £170 - £230 a tonne delivered. All wood pellet boilers are classed as solid fuel burners and as such will require a part J compliant Class 1 flue or liner. They will also require an electrical connection.

Cleaning
The grate will need to be cleaned every couple of days. This is normally a 5 minute task. Soot automatically falls into a soot tray which will have to be cleaned once a fortnight in normal use.
