Feel good about yourself. Harness solar
energy and reduce your dependency on fossil fuels.
Consol Solar Collectors are high
performance evacuated tube collectors and are great value. All Consol supertube
collectors have been accredited with the Solar Keymark a European wide
standard for solar panels (see http://www.estif.org/solarkeymark/user.php
).
Why go for DS collector DS supertubes are longer (1800mm) and each tube has a
diameter of 58mm rather than 47mm for our standard collectors. Each tube can
generate up to 10 Litres of hot water a day compared to the standard tube 6.7
Litres so an equivalent amount of tubes will generate significantly more hot
water.
More Energy Output than a Flat Panel
Collector Consol Solar Panels use high efficiency heat pipes.
This consists of a copper element enclosed in an coated anodised class tube.
The element contains a vacuum and a small amount of liquid. As soon as the tubes
absorbs solar radiation, the liquid condenses heating a small element very quickly
to temperatures > 90 deg C. This can be demonstrated even on a
winters day! Each tube acts a mini heating element, heating water which is
then pumped through a twin coil cylinder to provide you with hot water.
Easy to Install and Maintain Consol solar collectors have been designed so they are easy to fit
and install and are suitable for most types of roof. They will be supplied in
kit form together with a roof
mounting brace and can be assembled by any competent DIYer. All the collectors are finished with powder
coating for added durability. The tubes are mounted using a simple spring clip mechanism to prevent over
tightening and ease maintenance. A simple visual check can ascertain if all tubes are
operating correctly, and tubes can be replaced quickly without removing the
panel from the roof.
Choosing the
right collector Take your tank capacity and increase this by 10% to
compensate for loses in the system. Then select the collector that best matches
the result. So for example if you have a 200Ltr cylinder we would recommend a
collector rated at 200 + 10% = 220 Ltrs. In this case we would select a
DS-25-58-1800. Significantly over sizing collector sizes is not effective and
increases stagnation (tank has reached its max temperature and so no more energy
is required). Call us if you would like assistance in choosing an appropriate
collector for your roof.
Roof Orientation Ideally you require a shade free
South facing roof, but even an East or West facing roof with a 35 degree pitch
can achieve efficiencies of 80%.
